Dog Training Elite Makes Entrepreneur Franchise 500 List for 2022!

Did you see that Dog Training Elite was ranked #399 on the Entrepreneur Franchise 500 list for 2022? We are so doggone proud of our team, from the executive support crew at DTE headquarters to our PAW-some Franchise Owners, for making this possible. This prestigious list comes out annually and evaluates all of the best franchises from the U.S. and Canada. Being a part of this list is a very high honor!

How Does Entrepreneur Find The Best Of The Best?

American business magazine Entrepreneur has been evaluating and publishing an annual list of the top franchises in North America for the last 43 years. Much like the famed Fortune 500, the list shows the health of the franchise industry and economy. Curious investors can use the Franchise 500 to research companies they may be interested in purchasing and compare them.

The list features both public and private companies, large and small. There are familiar companies, like Taco Bell, The UPS Store, and Planet Fitness, as well as several smaller companies you may not have heard of yet. Franchise brands submit themselves for consideration for the list. In order to be eligible, they must be seeking new Franchise Owners and have at least ten units open, with at least one of those units being in the U.S. or Canada.

500 Companies, 150 Data Points, And 5 Categories

To be evaluated for the list, each franchise must submit an application and their current Franchise Disclosure Document. The editorial team vets each of the 1,177 submissions then enters the information for data analysis on 150 points in five key areas.

First, they evaluate cost and fees, including components like franchise fees, total investment, and royalty fees. Cost and investment fees can range from a few thousand dollars to a few million dollars. Dog Training Elite is one of the most affordable franchises on the list, with our investment starting as low as $82,800.

The size and growth of a company are considered in the Franchise 500. They look into the number of open and operating units, the current growth rate, and any closures. DTE has grown an astounding 293% in the last three years, and we are excited to continue that steady growth in 2022 with new Franchise Owners.

One of the most important aspects of becoming a Franchise Owner is the type of support you will receive from the company you partner with. Entrepreneur evaluates the level of support Franchisors offer, including the depth and duration of training, marketing support, operating support, financing availability, and litigation support.

We pride ourselves on the support we have for our Franchise Owners. When you work with DTE, you become part of the family from day one. We ensure you get the best hands-on training by taking you on live appointments with our top-notch team. We are also with you on location during the first two weeks you open, and we help you partner with shelters and rescues in your community to build awareness and advocacy for local animals in need. Our team will return in the first year of business, where we will take the time to focus on the issues that are the most important to you as you build your business. Current Franchise Owners will tell you that we are here to offer marketing and field support throughout the year. The DTE team is always ready to help you dig into any tough cases by providing unique solutions.

The final aspects the team at Entrepreneur evaluates are the financial and brand strength, including the years of franchising, years in business, system size, and social media presence. Our Founder, John Mestas, created Dog Training Elite in 2011 with a mission to help dogs live their best lives. His 40 years of experience in dog training refined his balanced-positive method that is at the heart of what we do. A few short years later, in 2014, we awarded our first franchise because we wanted to help dogs and their families all across the country.

Franchising, An American Tradtion

Did you know the concept of franchising goes back to the United States’ inception? Benjamin Franklin was one of the first to have an American franchise, agreeing to bring his proprietary printing press to South Carolina. DTE is proud to be a part of that grand American tradition.

Franchises are an excellent way for investors to make money. When a franchise works, both the Franchisor and the Franchise Owners benefit and make money. DTE wants to make being a Franchise Owner work for you. We have Owner/Operator models where you run every part of the business, from the finances to the clients and their dog. We also offer Semi-Absentee ownership, which allows you to run the company from behind the scenes by hiring a manager to run the day-to-day business and work directly with the clients. With Semi-Absentee ownership, you can continue to work full time, enjoy retirement, or keep any current obligations you have in place.

There Is No Better Time To Join DTE
