Helping Dogs Feel Calm & Confident

Aggressive Dog Training

One of the most difficult, necessary, and rewarding behaviors to correct in a dog is anxiety and aggression. These behaviors can be learned, genetic, or innate. When a dog feels threatened, their natural response is either fight or flight.

Most dogs will try to distance themselves from the perceived threat; if that's not possible, they may resort to aggression or submission. Some dogs, particularly those who see themselves as confident pack leaders, may turn to aggression as their first response.

Both of these reactions are rooted in anxiety and can be effectively addressed with Dog Training Elite's balanced aggressive dog training.

Understanding Aggressive Behaviors in Dogs

Aggression is one of the most concerning behaviors your dog can exhibit. If left unchecked, an aggressive dog can pose a serious threat to family members, strangers, other dogs, or even themselves.

Many dog owners struggle with how to recognize early warning signs of aggression or how to effectively address these tendencies. Identifying and managing aggressive behavior early on is crucial in preventing it from escalating into more dangerous situations.

Common signs of aggression in dogs include:

  • Growling or bearing teeth
  • Threatening barks
  • Standing rigid and/or taller
  • Raised fur
  • Nipping and biting

Aggression often stems from underlying issues like fear, anxiety, improper training, or negative environments. Dogs that have been rescued from poor situations or found on the street are particularly susceptible to developing aggressive behaviors.

At Dog Training Elite, we specialize in professional dog training for aggression, helping your dog transform from fearful or aggressive to a happy, friendly, and loyal companion.

Blaize was knowledgeable and really listened to our concerns with Hugo. She was supportive and encouraging. After each session she made sure we understood the lesson she covered and what we needed to work on with Hugo. It is reassuring to know we can always contact her with questions once we head back north. We enjoyed working with her.

Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? YES!! My reactive and aggressive dog (at 6 years old) has improved so much. She’s been taking treats from strangers and letting them pet her! (With a few minutes of building trust) when she used to jump at them and bite instead.

🌟 Testimonial for Sunnee & DTE Training I was hesitant to sign up with DTE at first. I’ve always had Dobermans—very smart, very focused dogs—so when I adopted Lilly, my energetic Goldendoodle, I honestly wasn’t sure she could learn much. She was so hyper, and I doubted whether training would make a real difference. Little did I know. Sunnee is completely responsible for the incredible progress Lilly has made. Her patience, consistency, and training techniques didn’t just teach Lilly—they taught me. She showed up on time every single visit, always professional, always prepared, and always encouraging. Every week, she gave us homework, which helped more than I expected. I was overwhelmed at first, but she reminded me that even seven minutes a day makes a difference. And she was right. Today, I’m so proud of Lilly and everything she has learned. I’m equally grateful for everything I’ve learned along the way. Kudos to Sunnee—she is a truly valuable trainer, and it’s obvious she loves what she does. I’m excited to see what future visits bring for both of us.

I adopted a 4 month old puppy female from Austin Pet's Alive she was a parvo survivor labeled as a terrier mix. After visiting my vet she was convinced that she was a Belgian Malinois and Gray also agreed. I had no idea what that was...... She was out of control jumping, biting, bouts of aggression. She was in the crate too long one day and Gray warned me this breed can't be in a crate more than 8 hours. I didn't listen. She was my third puppy I was not new at having a dog and training a puppy. I met Gray at Georgetown Market Days. I was impressed by how well behaved his dog was. I looked at the price of personal training and I thought there's no way. After entering into PetSmart training and nothing the trainer told me worked. I either hired a professional or I was looking at not keeping her. Gray worked out a payment plan that worked for me, after our first class she was already improving I've now finished my fifth private session and it's been life changing for her (Gigi my now 10 month old puppy) and for me. Gray is patient, he's kind, he's caring. His wife does all the scheduling and billing and she's been just as wonderful I've had many issues come up with Gigi in this journey and he's always just a text away more than willing to help with any challenge that came. We still have a bit of work to do and I will now enter into group training which I'm really looking forward to. Be honest if I had the money I would be paying Gray even more because his giftedness in training is just amazing. Gigi and I aren't in a perfect place yet but we are very well on our way. Here's a picture of us off leash in a store today something I never thought I would see. I do have to say as a dog owner you have to be committed to training and doing exactly as Gray instructs. He's been such a gift 🙏🏼

Working with Sidney at DTE has been a wonderful experience. Her patience, knowledge, and understanding of the relationship between dog and owner has helped me and Sorcha build a deeper bond while working on her training. My puppers has grown so much in her ability to regulate her over excitement and I have become a better dog mom because of Sidney and DTE.

I can’t say enough good things about Dog Training Elite or our trainer, Amber. After a few too many reactive moments with Mochi - and one nightmare day on a trail where she lunged at dog after dog - I knew I needed help. Dog Training Elite responded quickly and scheduled a consultation, and I felt immediate trust in their team after Reina’s home visit. Because we’re moving soon, I was worried we wouldn’t have enough time. Amber and Reina reassured me and helped fast-track our training - and the results have been incredible. After just two months, Mochi is a completely different dog. I used to dread taking her out in public or on hikes, but now she can walk a busy trail in a perfect heel, hold a sit or down as dogs pass by, and even stay in her given command when other dogs get into her space - something that would have caused her to lunge before. To Amber and the team - I truly cannot thank you enough for getting us to a point where going out together is actually fun again. To anyone reading this - if you’re on the fence about training or which company to choose, this is your sign - go with Dog Training Elite. You won’t regret it.

My dog (Peaches) and I started training a couple of weeks ago. Although we have only had a couple of in-home classes thus far, I can see a big improvement. Peaches has learned several different commands and is successful most of the time. As for me, I'm more confident dealing with her behavioral issues. For the first time in a couple of months, I feel positive. The trainer (Grace) has been excellent with me and Peaches. Her instructions are right on point. I'm so happy Peaches and I have her as an instructor. I would not hesitate to recommend Dog Training Elite to anyone. Additional information about Peaches dog training as of 3/21/26. Peaches and I are doing remarkably well. We completed our in-home training and have advanced to group classes, weekly. When I first started, I couldn't have imagined that by this date we would be doing so well. Peaches is my star. She tries her hardest to follow commands and loves praise and positive reinforcement. She has come a long way in a relatively short period of time. We never would have accomplished any of this without the tools we were given by Peaches trainers (Grace and Eric). I can't recommend this program enough. Although, Peaches and I have worked with Grace and Eric the most, the rest of the staff is equally wonderful. Peaches and I say thank you.

Today we had a lesson at the Training Site and it was really interesting to see how my dog behaved around other dogs doing the same training. If you’re not sure if your doing the training correctly, just asked the staff. They know your dog well and are super friendly.

We tried other trainers before DTE and there is no comparison with the work DTE team does. After the first session my puppy was already feeling more confident and responding to the commands. We appreciate the approach of Jocy and Alaina. They were excellent to Niko and us. They pushed us to learn and do our best to train Niko. We just loved the program. I also want to highlight the group class. We attended one so far but we loved and it is very helpful for Niko. Thank you so much!!

At Dog Training Elite, we understand that every dog is unique, and we have developed a comprehensive training program specifically to eliminate aggressive behaviors across various breeds.

  1. Initial In-Home Assessment: We begin with a free in-home assessment where we meet your dog to understand the underlying causes of their aggression, anxiety, or fears. During this session, we identify triggers and gather the necessary information to develop a personalized training plan.
  2. Personalized Training Plan Development: Based on the assessment, we create a customized training program tailored to your dog’s specific needs. This plan targets the unique behaviors and triggers that contribute to their aggression.
  3. Building Confidence and Establishing Leadership: Our trainers work closely with you to establish your role as the pack leader in your home. For fearful and anxious dogs, we focus on building confidence and reducing the fears that trigger aggressive behavior.
  4. Desensitization and Obedience Training: For overly aggressive dogs, we use desensitization techniques to reduce reactivity to triggers and anxieties. Obedience training are key components of this stage.
  5. Group Class Integration: Once your dog reaches a safe baseline of obedience, we gradually introduce them to group class settings. These classes are designed to help your dog reintegrate into social environments successfully. For safety, a muzzle is required during these sessions to protect all dogs involved.
  6. Ongoing Support and Reinforcement: We continue to support you and your dog throughout the training process, offering guidance and reinforcement to ensure lasting success. Our goal is to help your dog become a loving, loyal, and well-behaved member of your family.
