Dog Training Elite

Expert Puppy Trainers

Bringing home a new puppy is exciting, but it also comes with challenges like chewing and accidents. The most common mistake new owners make is underestimating the knowledge, commitment, and effort needed to train a new puppy.

Once a puppy begins to grow, its energy can quickly feel unmanageable. It’s all too common that a well-meaning and loving family takes on a puppy lacking the knowledge and skills to train correctly. This often results in overwhelmed owners rehoming or taking these puppies to local shelters, feeling the puppy’s disposition is bad or simply that they are not cut out to be dog owners.

At Dog Training Elite, we focus on building that bond through effective training to foster trust and communication. Our experienced puppy trainers use proven methods to help you and your puppy succeed together.

The Importance of Puppy Training

Almost everyone and everything a puppy will encounter will be brand new, which can be exciting. However, puppies may not know how to respond positively and safely to new experiences without proper training. That's why Dog Training Elite believes in starting puppy training as soon as possible, so you and your pup can bond and start your adventures on the right foot!

Training the DTE way provides puppies and owners with a nurturing environment where they can learn to communicate and trust each other. Puppies have an innate desire to please, so training can be fun and even easy! Of course, it can be daunting to try and figure out how to make puppies understand concepts like potty training or commands like sit and stay on your own. That's where puppy training comes in.

Keeping a puppy safe should be the number one priority of new dog owners. By working with puppy trainers in, new puppy owners can learn how to teach their pup both basic and complex obedience skills effectively. Training a pup to be home alone, walk on a leash, wait on the threshold, and avoid consuming non-edible objects will help keep them safe when out of sight.

I am SO happy with our dog, Hank’s, quick turn-around!! He really needed some help with his manners, and Nathan was SO good with him!! He also did such a great job of explaining everything he was doing, why he was doing it, and how we can continue to work on it at home, as well as in different environments. He answered all our questions and took his time with us. My kids even joined in at times, and he was good with them as well. You can tell he’s passionate about his work, and that he really cares about the dogs and the families!! I am so thankful I hired these guys!!! 10/10 recommended!! ☺️

Alex S is absolutely fantastic, she has come in and helped our situation out so much. Our dobie, Goose, likes to test his boundaries and we are able to overcome this easily. Not only this, he is thinking through his actions/ future actions which is making him a great dog! Highly recommend

Christy and Taylor were fantastic to work with! They were incredibly patient with our puppy and always took the time to answer our questions. Their communication was excellent, and they were so supportive throughout the entire training process. We were amazed by how much our puppy grew and learned in such a short time. They also did a great job explaining the "why" behind their training methods, which gave us the confidence to continue reinforcing everything at home. We couldn't have asked for a better start with our new dog and highly recommend them!

I can’t say enough great things about Sunnee. We have two dachshunds, one with prior training and one with none. Working with both of them at the same time has definitely been a challenge. Sunnee has been incredibly supportive, patient, and helpful throughout every session. She’s extremely knowledgeable when it comes to training dogs, and honestly, she’s just as good at training the humans too lol. We’ve already seen great progress and feel so much more confident continuing their training at home. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a skilled and compassionate trainer.

DTE is the best! I can't say enough about Kim, Aaron, & Jenna. They always go above & beyond and bring in real life experiences. Not only do they train your dog but they teach you how to reinforce what your dog has learned. So many people comment on how well behaved my dog is and I tell them it’s thanks to DTE.

Our trainer Reina was great. She fully understood what we needed and wanted for our dog. The way she teaches is kind and was focused on training us on how to train our dog. Not sure if all the trainers are like her but I recommend using them.

We can't say enough good things about Teddy's training experience here. Before training, Teddy struggled with high reactivity and walks, public outings were often impossible. Matt, Dom, Alaina were incredible and supportive throughout the entire process. They took the time to understand Teddy's needs and gave us the tools and confidence to continue his progress at home. The transformation has been a complete 180. Teddy is calmer, focused, and walks are now enjoyable instead of challenging. The team genuinely cares about every pup they work with and are passionate about helping them succeed. We're so grateful for everything they've done for us!!!

Mrs. Debbie is an absolutely amazing dog trainer! I can’t say enough good things about her knowledge, patience, and dedication. In 3 weeks, I’ve seen incredible progress with my puppy. The difference in her behavior and focus has been amazing, and it’s all thanks to Mrs. Debbie’s training techniques and genuine care for both Azula and me. She takes the time to explain everything, answers questions, and makes sure you’re confident continuing the training at home. It’s clear she truly loves what she does and wants us to succeed. If you’re looking for a trainer who is professional, encouraging, and gets real results, I highly recommend Mrs. Debbie. Azula has come so far in such a short time, and I’m excited to see how much more she continues to grow. Thank you, Mrs. Debbie, for everything you’ve done for Azula!

WOW what a great experience! I was skeptical at first as I thought our dog was untrainable. Our dog is a whippet mix and a handful, didn't listen, wouldn't follow simple commands, wouldn't walk on a leash, and we were at our wits end. We found Dog Training Elite in Fort Pierce and am so glad we did. After one week, he's a different dog. He's learned all the basic commands and is a pleasure to be around. The videos they send of his training sessions are fun to watch and the "how to" videos are a great follow-up after the training is completed. The trainers are so patient and take their time with your dog (and you). I wish we would have done this sooner. I highly recommend Dog Training Elite and wish I could give more than 5 stars. The Best decision we made for Cody and my family!! I honestly thought my dog, Cody, was untrainable. Cody is a 6-year-old, energetic Labrador Retriever who would pull us down the street every single time we went for a walk. We couldn’t take him to parks, he wouldn’t listen, and he had a hard time bonding with strangers. I truly believed that was just the way he was. Then we met Kevin. From the very beginning, Kevin was patient, knowledgeable, and incredibly understanding. What amazed me most was how quickly he bonded with Cody. Seeing someone connect with my dog the way Kevin did gave me hope that things could actually change. Kevin took the time to teach both Cody and me in a way that was easy to understand and follow. He never made me feel overwhelmed and was always willing to answer questions and help us work through challenges. His patience with both of us was something I’ll always appreciate. One of Cody’s biggest challenges was being around other dogs. Walks were stressful because he would react whenever we passed another dog, and I was constantly worried about how he would behave. Kevin worked with us through those issues and helped Cody learn how to stay calm and focused. Now we can walk past other dogs with so much more confidence. Today, Cody walks perfectly by my side. The pulling is gone, his bad habits have improved tremendously, and he listens so much better. The difference in our daily lives is unbelievable. We can finally enjoy walks, trips to the park, and family outings without stress. It’s honestly been such a breath of fresh air!!🥹 Words can’t fully express how grateful I am for everything Kevin has done for us. When I say we tried everything for Cody before the training, I mean everything!! At one point, we even wondered if Cody had sudden rage syndrome because of the way he would act. Our neighbors thought he was a horrible dog and that he would never change, but Kevin saw something completely different in him. Before Kevin We tried no-pull leashes, anxiety medication for trips to parks and the vet, muzzles, different training methods, and everything else you can think of, and nothing worked at all!! If you’re considering training for your dog, I cannot recommend Kevin enough. I had so many doubts and fears that Cody would never change, but Kevin proved me completely wrong. Thanks to his patience, knowledge, and dedication, Cody is a completely different dog today. Thank you, Kevin, for helping me build a better relationship with my dog and making our lives so much easier. I will absolutely be recommending you to all of my friends and family! ❤️

Dog Training Elite offers comprehensive in-home training. For the first 4-6 weeks, trainers use “treat training” before moving onto more advanced puppy training. Puppies will learn the following behaviors:

  • Come, down, loose-leash walking, and down
  • Puppy corrections (Stop biting, digging, jumping, etc.)
  • Crate training/ housebreaking
  • Focus around distractions

Trainers will also help owners learn about the following:

  • Socialization tips
  • Environmental hazards
  • Positive reinforcement techniques
  • Puppy enrichment
  • Caring for your puppy
  • And more!

Training a puppy can feel overwhelming. By pairing you with a professional trainer, not only will your puppy learn quickly, but you will feel confident and empowered to continue training your puppy after the sessions are completed. Training in your own home will help you bond with your pup so even after the professional trainer leaves, you and Fido can continue to progress together.

First-time dog owners are often unsure of when to begin training their dogs. For the best results, it’s essential to start training your puppy as soon as possible. You can start socialization and basic commands as soon as you bring your new puppy home. Puppies are open to new experiences and people and learn quickly while they are young. It is beneficial to take advantage of this stage. Start with basic commands like "down," "come," and "stay." If you are searching for classes, Dog Training Elite offers puppy obedience classes.

We have developed a highly successful and unique positive puppy training program empowering dog owners to train. Hence, their dog knows who to obey at all times, in all situations or environments. We offer personalized training to deal with specific issues and behaviors. We even offers customized training schedules to offer you the support you need as a dog owner.

Involvement is Key!

Most dog training programs don’t allow for the involvement of owners and families. Our trainers greatly encourage owners and their families to be involved in the training process. Why? This ensures you and your family know what’s expected, allows for continued education and means all the progress isn’t lost. Your puppy won’t come home and forget everything he’s learned.

Our puppy training program consists of two phases, early training and advanced training. Puppies as young as eight weeks can begin learning with Dog Training Elite. Our process allows us to efficiently complete in-home puppy training services at your home or within the environment where behaviors manifest - such as in the park or around other dogs in the neighborhood.

How Puppy Training Works

We use a positive puppy training method paired with an electronic collar - not a shock collar. Unlike shock collars, electronic collars do not hurt or harm the pup. They are used only to obtain their attention, not to punish bad behavior. We believe in using constant praise to encourage good behavior. The difference becomes apparent when comparing a puppy trained out of fear to a puppy who truly desires to please.

Positive Reinforcement for Positive Pups

Positive reinforcement is the best option in puppy training. Punishments will only scare your dog, and fear can lead to aggression problems later in life. Our trainers use a classical conditioning program focusing on positive reinforcement of basic commands.

Dogs are eager to please. When they learn following basic commands results in affection or a treat, they will be happy to do as you ask. With patience - and the assistance of a professional puppy trainer - you'll be rewarded with a lifelong loyal pal.

We base our training around the "Classical Conditioning" model, also known as the "Pavlovian" response or "respondent conditioning." This means developing conditioned or automatic reflexes to commands, so when the owner says "sit," the dog automatically sits without thinking. Our unique technique ensures our program is a success no matter what behavior we encounter.

Tips on How to Bond

Training is a great way to establish a deep, loyal bond with your puppy. Outside of your training sessions, there is more you can do to strengthen your bond. Here are some more tips for how to bond with your puppy:

Your puppy may not understand the words you’re saying, but he or she will understand your tone of voice. Speaking in an excited tone of voice will get your pup excited and motivate them to do what you want them to. Speaking in a low, calm voice can help soothe and relax your puppy.
Puppies thrive on routine. A consistent schedule will help your puppy adjust to their new home, and to you and your family. A puppy’s schedule needs to include eating, playtime, puppy training, potty breaks, and nap times.
As mentioned above, playtime is an important part of your puppy’s schedule. Playing with your puppy will help strengthen your bond and stimulate their brains. Walks are an easy and great way to give your puppy much-needed exercise. Start small, walking around in your yard or driveway and gradually extending the distance around your neighborhood.
Creating boundaries in your home for your puppy helps strengthen your bond because your puppy will look to you for direction and guidance. It will also help your puppy avoid bad habits. Baby gates and playpens are a useful way to create physical boundaries.
Puppies can become overwhelmed about all the new things they’re exploring. Crate training is a perfect way to allow your puppy to have their own space where they feel safe and comfortable and help them develop some independence so they grow into a well-adjusted dog.
The most adorable way to bond with your puppy is by cuddling them! Snuggling with your pup can help him or her feel comforted and safe. The best time to get a cuddle session with your puppy is when they are sleepy. Cuddling also helps puppies get used to having their paws, belly, face, etc. handled, and can be a good time to introduce light grooming practices like brushing their fur.
