Why Are Group Dog Training Classes Important?

  • Provide Socialization
  • Training Practice in Distracting Situations
  • Fun and Friendly Community Building
  • Small and Highly Personable
  • For all Breeds and Sizes
  • Included in Most Packages
  • Basic Obedience Training Required
  • Only for Fully Immunized Dogs

Classes are a mix of all dog breeds and sizes, and our classes provide necessary socialization skills and practice around high levels of distraction. We like to make our group classes exciting for both dogs and handlers, we have created fun training games and an environment that feels less like a class and more like a social outing. We are building a community and our dog training groups tend to feel like a family and less like a dog training group. Friends are made, bonds are formed, and both dogs and dog owners look forward to their once a week group training sessions.

I am delighted to say that Summit graduated today. Jenny’s insight and patience is invaluable throughout this process. Remember success is part training, part dog and ALL owner/handler. Be prepared to put in the work for the result. We look forward to group classes very soon!

Dog Training Elite has been amazing. Before I started the training program, I did not have a connection with my then, 3-4 month old German Shepard puppy. After my 5 private lessons, I can walk my now 5 month, 55 pound German Shepard puppy without him pulling. He looks to me for direction/commands. Donny was great to work with, he shows you what to do to train your dog, then gives you direction as you train your dog yourself, to continue the training on your own. Going for even a short walk used to be very stressful before Dog Training Elite. Now I have the tools I need to have an obedient dog and continue training as he grows. He was even a good boy at the Vet! I can’t say how much this program changed my relationship with my dog, thank you Donny!!

My dog and I are just starting our training journey with Jenny and already I'm seeing impressive improvements. Because of my dog's breed, she is an excessive puller and highly prey motivated. So on most walks, I’d end up with a throbbing shoulder from her pulling and crying because I’m so discouraged. I’ve watched hours of youtube videos teaching you how to get your dog to stop pulling, and we would practice over and over with minimal improvements. But, after just one training session to learn how to heel, we were able to go on a 2-mile walk with minimal corrections. I can’t even begin to tell y’all how grateful I am that I can take my dog on walks with me. Training with Jenny and learning how to utilize the e-collar has been instrumental in my communication with my dog. I can’t tell you how excited I am for the rest of our training sessions.

Widget is our 2 yr old Maltipoo Covid baby and I apologize that this is going to be a long review Due to Covid, Widget was not able to be socialized with people/dogs and this caused him to have very high levels of anxiety. As well, we also discovered that he is a Resource Guarder. He would resource guard food, toys, the couch and especially my husband and he had snapped and bit at both my husband and myself. We went through two trainers who were able to help us semi-manage his resource guarding but not help him like he needed. He would bark insistently out the window at squirrels, people, vehicles or even leaves! He was always on high alert and I was never sure if he would react badly if you tried to take something away from him. In fact, I was becoming scared of my own dog and it finally got to the point where if we couldn’t find a way to help him, he was going to have to be rehomed to someone who could. And along came Dog Training Elite Austin. We were at the home show and stopped at their booth. I have to be honest and say that I was VERY resistant to the thought of using an E-Collar. All I could think of was it was like the shock collars of the past and nothing my husband could say could change my mind. We talked to them for at least an hour and my husband convinced me to set up an appointment for an evaluation. Jenny came out and explained how it all worked and I agreed to the training. Let me tell you, we have a totally different dog. If Jenny had told me at that first meeting that he would be like this after only 4 lessons, I wouldn’t have believed her. He’s more relaxed, he’s obedient both inside and out and he’s learning to self-correct himself. He can look out the window without going crazy and me having to close all the blinds so he can’t see. On walks he’s able to walk by dogs that previously he would have barked and growled at. And he’s on his way to becoming a certified Trick dog! I highly recommend them!!

Jenny and Donny have been absolutely amazing!!! We got Dez to be an autism service dog for our youngest. Our house is always busy with 3 boys. We started at 16 weeks with our excitable and high drive Bernese Aussie. The first day of training was amazing. Even though we had trained him with treats and had him always on a leash he needed more. That first weekend was a big breath of fresh air! He was able to be off leash in the house and knew what he couldn’t get. We work throughout the week with him on homework and they come weekly for his obedience. He just graduated a week early and now has started group and public access training. The first part is always hard but by the end he has learned his new task and we are able to focus on that one skill. It has been awesome and I would recommend that anyone who needs any training go through them. They are absolutely amazing!!!

Donny is awesome, and we are so glad that we chose Dog Training Elite. The home evaluation process was flawless, and Donny did a great job at listening to our needs, and providing feedback. Zeus has progressed in so many ways over the past couple of months, and so have we. Donny is patient, informative, detailed, and his passion for training shows each time he is at our home. I cant say enough great things about Dog Training Elite. Our experience has been beyond our expectations, and we look forward to working with them more in the future.

We have been so fortunate to have had our son find Donny and his services for our sweet rescue, Moira! At only eight months, she had been thru three homes and shelters! When we were debating whether to adopt her or not, Donny came out and reassured us that she is a GOOD DOG! Mind you, she was one step away from becoming Cujo! Just know if you want the best, Donny and Jen are what you want and are very knowledgeable and PATIENT! Moira has graduated from individual training and now is onto group classes!

We worked with Jen and she totally exceeded my expectations. I’m in my sixties and have always had dogs and gone through a myriad of dog training courses. With a German and Australian shepherd we had our hands full. I wanted to have these dogs so well trained that people would comment on their behavior particularly the German Shepherd. So many folks are afraid of them and I wanted to put them at ease. We could tell the difference in our dogs’ demeanor after one class. It was so far superior to anything I’ve tried. If you want great results and lifetime learning you’ve found the place.

Jenny and Donny have been so incredible helping me work on my dog Princess’s confidence. Jenny especially is the trainer we have been working with the last month and a half; I can’t say enough good things about how she is so encouraging, transparent about realistic goals, friendly, and so well versed in her training methods. I didn’t think Princess would ever be able to be out in public without shaking like a leaf, but even in the last couple of weeks with group classes, Princess has blossomed & doesn’t shake for very long before realizing she is a confident, strong dog! I wouldn’t be able to have all this progress with Princess without Jenny & Donny. I highly, highly recommend them!!

A very well deserved 5- star rating! Donny and Jenny are VERY good at their craft - with dogs and their humans. They offer several options for classes/programs. Their long standing relationship with their clients through one on one classes and group training is what sets this company apart from the rest! I 110% recommend this lovely company! Also Duke - their dog - is an outstanding example of how well their program works! Such a sweetheart!

Jenny and Donny who own DTE Austin are top notch! Like starting anything new I was nervous to pick the right trainers for my dog. We had a “failed” board and train with someone else and I held off simply because it’s an investment and I was nervous to pull the trigger on any trainer again. I can say with no hesitation it was the greatest decision we’ve made for our dog. We have the happiest, most obedient pup now thanks to working with Jenny. They hold your hand, they are only a text a way with questions and provide amazing group classes as well. Overall, a great choice! If you’re considering working with them, reach out for their free evaluation, that is what really made us comfortable and sold us on working with them!

We love Dog Training Elite (DTE)! Jenny and Donny are great trainers and handlers. We enrolled Abbey, our 2 year old willful Old English Sheepdog and their methods have worked wonders. After 5 weekly in-home, in person training sessions with Jenny, and 15-20 minute owner/dog practice sessions the rest of the week, she learned to Come, Off, Place (great for when company comes or the doorbell rings), Quiet (so nice!), Heel (no more pulling!), Sit and Down. The group sessions are great because the dogs learn to socialize and behave/have manners with other dogs, owners and trainers. We've done various dog training over the years with our other dogs, but honestly, the at-home training is the best. They show you how to accomplish each command and then hand the leash off to you to do it yourself, so you can practice before the next session. Now, we are seriously considering taking the next step so she can be a therapy dog. You have to be committed to doing the work, but it's a lot of fun. It helps you to bond with your dog and makes walks and public outings so much better. Jenny and Donny are both a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend DTE if you are serious about training your dog.

Dog training elite is the best and only training service I’d use, they helped me so much with my service dog in training and my dog is happy, well rounded, and calm because of their training! I especially recommend training with either Jenny or Donny. They’re always on time, helpful, and they’re both amazing trainers!

We had Jenny work with our COVID puppy, Wrigley. He was very anxious and disobedient before training. We were concerned that he might bite someone and get us in trouble. We couldn’t even take him on a walk and a few trainers had told us that they couldn’t work with him. Jenny did a fantastic job of training Wrigley. He is now full of confidence and walks beside me calmly on our regular neighborhood walks. I highly recommend DTE Austin as we have a great little dog now thanks to them.

I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Donny on Callie’s obedience training. When we adopted Callie, she had pretty significant anxiety, but with Donny’s support, she has found her confidence and learned many new skills. Donny is patient, and his love for his furry friends is evident in his overall demeanor and approach. Training is based on positive reinforcement and consistency. If you’re willing to put in the work, this program is worth every penny!

We could not recommend Dog Training Elite Austin enough! Our experience with their obedience training program for our Goldendoodle puppy was a 10/10. Donny and Jenny are incredibly knowledgeable, patient, reliable, and professional. Our training was done specifically with Donny, and he went above and beyond to ensure our puppy learned and mastered commands. He spent extra time with us answering questions, sharing additional tips, and talking through strategies to better support our puppy’s training. We learned so much from him and felt very equipped to raise a well-behaved, happy dog after our training. We are blown away by the progress our puppy made throughout the training program, and we are deeply grateful for the phenomenal experience Dog Training Elite Austin provided for our family!
