About Dog Training Elite Utah
Dog Training Elite Utah has developed a highly successful and unique positive dog training program that empowers dog owners and their canines to work together, creating strong bonds, and sustained obedience. Training takes time, commitment, and balance. Dog Training Elite Utah is different from other training programs, we will be there every step of the way, to help you and your dog achieve sustained, deep-rooted obedience.
Our dog training services in Utah County, Lehi, Provo / Orem, Park City & Draper are personalized and are designed to teach owners how to train their dog alongside a professional dog trainer in their home environment as well as in small group settings. We strongly believe that the key to sustained obedience and training is to empower owners to be an integral part of the training experience. Most training programs require minimal to no involvement from owners and once the dog returns to their home environment, almost all progress is undone and owners feel just as helpless as they did before.
Our passion for dogs and service sets us apart. All of our local dog trainers are trustworthy, willing to be there for our clients and love what they do. We want to build a community for our clients that love their dogs just as much as we do and once you begin the training process with us, you become a part of the Dog Training Elite Utah family.
Award Winning Services

We are also, extremely proud to be partnered with The Malinois Foundation, donating our time and passion to train service dogs for veterans.
Dog Training Elite Utah - Proud of Our Accomplishments
A proven and positive dog training model
Dog Training Elite Utah is part of a national dog training company founded by John Mestas. John is a passionate dog lover/trainer who used his 40+ years of dog training experience to create a positive dog training model that stands apart from other programs. What began as a small movement in the dog training world has gained momentum and grown as we have attracted clients and trainers with our unique, successful in-home training model.
Balanced Dog Training Method
We use a balanced positive dog training method paired with an electronic collar. This is not a shock collar. Unlike a shock collar, an electronic collar does not hurt or harm the dog. This collar is used only to get a dog's attention in a distracting situation and feels like a simple tap. With the collar, a dog will quickly become conditioned to redirect attention in distracting situations. Keeping a dog’s attention is the basis of successful training sessions. Once a dog is conditioned to focus, praise and positive reinforcement can be used effectively to create a positive training environment. This method is becoming more and more popular as dog trainers and dog owners realize that if a dog is trained to positively correlate behaving well and listening, behaviors are much easier to control. The difference becomes clear when comparing a dog that is trained out of fear and intimidation vs a dog who truly desires to please from the inside out.
Our Balanced Theory
We base our training around the "Classical Conditioning" model (aka "Pavlovian" or "respondent conditioning"). This includes developing conditioned or automatic reflexes to commands. In it's simplest form (after proper conditioning) -- when the owner says 'sit', dog automatically sits without thinking about it. Our unique techniques ensure our program is a success no matter the behavior we encounter.
