Many dog owners express frustration when their dog returns from obedience school and has not learned one command successfully. While obedience school trainers teach your dog simple commands, effective training is best done at home with the owner. Each dog is unique, with its own temperament and behavioral issues. Full-scope training is not possible to achieve without an in-home dog training program.

During in-home sessions, trainers get to know the dog and its environment. There are often particular issues- chasing the mailman or barking at the neighbor’s cat - that are not observed in an out-of-home setting. Bringing a professional dog trainer into your home creates a personalized training experience, that addresses your dog’s particular issues.

In-home dog training is more successful than group classes because it minimizes distractions. Basic obedience and behavioral issues must first be addressed with one-on-one private training, and then these lessons can be tested in a more distracting environment. Dog Training Elite of the NC Triangle takes a comprehensive approach, pairing in-home training with group lessons to ensure your dog fully retains every command and can respond appropriately regardless of the environment.

In-home dog trainers can address a variety of issues, such as:

  • Housebreaking
  • Leash pulling
  • Aggression
  • Anxiety
  • Ignoring commands
  • Excessive barking
  • Jumping on people
  • Destructive behaviors

Positive Training Methods

At Dog Training Elite of the NC Triangle, we understand that you want the best for your dog, and our goal is to ensure all training experiences are positive for you and your furry friend! Our team of trainers has learned that positive reinforcement and classical conditioning are the most effective training methods. We never use punishment - we love dogs and we want them to learn in a positive, safe environment! By rewarding dogs for good behavior rather than punishing negative behaviors, our trainers effectively teach your canine companion how to behave.

In Home Dog Training Goals

While our professional dog trainers will be taking the lead, you, and any other family members who interact with your dog will be a part of the training process as well. In-home dog training empowers you and helps you build a positive relationship with your dog.

Benefits of Positive In-Home Training Techniques

Dogs enjoy training sessions if they take place with the person they love. Listening, learning, and acting on commands is a way for your dog to show you that he cares! The praise you bestow your pup (and the tasty treat you give) makes him happy, and this experience of learning is a great bonding activity.

Sending your dog off to obedience school removes you from the training process and prevents this special bonding from occurring. When you choose Dog Training Elite of the NC Triangle, we ensure you are part of the training process. All in-home training programs involve you and any other family members that care for your dog. Our trainers’ goal is to teach you how to train your dog.

Obedience commands are essential to any full-scope dog training program. These commands ensure the safety of your dog and prevent any undesired problems. Obedience is the core of successful training, and your dog must learn these commands before he can progress.

Our in-home training program focuses on ingrained obedience and our trainers ensure your dog learns essential commands, such as sit, place, come, stay, lay, off, drop it, and more. Once these key lessons are taught, our trainers will work with you and your pup on more advanced topics.

Does your dog jump up as a greeting, or charge the door anytime visitors announce their arrival with the doorbell? Or perhaps he begs from the table with wide, puppy eyes? These problem behaviors are easily corrected with the right training techniques.

Group classes or “puppy essentials” training programs cannot address most problem behaviors, as these issues are more likely to occur at home where your dog is most comfortable and confident. Bringing a trusted trainer into your home is the best way to address these behaviors!

We never use shock collars or punishments; our training method focuses on positive reinforcement, which has proven successful. The vibration collar is not a shock collar nor does it cause pain - it is used to get your dog’s attention, like the tug of a leash. Our techniques have proven successful over the years, and we are proud to be a trusted provider of dog training services in the Raleigh / Cary area.

Our Balanced Theory

We base our training around the "Classical Conditioning" model (a.k.a. "Pavlovian" or "respondent conditioning"). This includes developing conditioned or automatic reflexes to commands. In its simplest form (after proper conditioning), when the owner says "sit," the dog automatically sits without thinking about it. Our unique techniques ensure our program is a success no matter what behavior we encounter.

Dog Training Elite of the NC Triangle is the top company near you that uses professional positive dog training methods.

Why Choose a Professional?

DIY training often fails because most dog owners do not know how to communicate with their canine companions. A professional trainer teaches you how to communicate with your dog, making training easier and results long-lasting.

Dog Training Elite of the NC Triangle’s in-home training program is highly personalized as opposed to most other programs available to dog owners. Together, owners and canines create stronger bonds along with sustained obedience. Contact us today for a free in-home evaluation!

In-Home Dog Training FAQs

As your dog spends most of his time inside your home or around your property, this is where problem behaviors are more likely to occur. When you bring your dog to group classes, these behaviors are likely to go unaddressed. Bringing a trainer in your home allows for your dog to feel comfortable and gives the trainer a chance to catch and correct negative behaviors.
At Dog Training Elite, we create highly personalized programs because we know every dog is different. Our in-home dog training program focuses on basic obedience, housebreaking, and behavior correction. If your dog is a barker, a mailman chaser, or displays aggression, your personal trainer will focus on these unique behaviors.
Yes! Our professional trainers include you in the lessons and work hard to help you and your dog establish a bond of trust. When the dog owner is not included in the training process, it is extremely difficult to establish obedience in your dog. A dog dropped off at over-stimulating, distracting doggie daycare or group training sessions will have difficulty translating those lessons into his home environment.
At Dog Training Elite of the NC Triangle, we use positive reinforcement methods and a gentle vibration collar. We never abuse or use punishment tactics. A happy dog is an obedient dog, and we work with treats, praise and attention to help your dog establish healthy behaviors.

Dog Training Elite of the NC Triangle provides professional and personalized in-home dog training programs in near you Raleigh / Cary.

Everything about Dog Training Elite Charlotte was great. They were very responsive, easy to work with, professional, and kind. My husband and I are about to have our first child and needed some help getting our two dogs listening a better before the baby came. After just one session we saw a huge difference already. They are still doing great and we couldn’t be more appreciate of their help and support! Definitely worth every penny!

I saw such a huge change in my Dobie's behavior and in myself as a handler. The trainers were incredibly helpful and happy to see her grow with me. She's still a pup, but I'm so proud of her and excited to get her working on tasks as she gets older because of the care and training results I've seen from the team so far. A lot has been going on for me and they've really helped me with the puppy stages TREMENDOUSLY and have set us up with a great foundation. Very professional, hands on, flexible, helpful organization and I would 100% go with them every time.

I genuinely cannot recommend Dog Training Elite-Utah County enough--Evan (the owner) truly saved our beagle. Evan will be honest with you about your dog, so much so that it is obvious he isn't trying to just get money out of you--he wants you to have the best relationship with your dog. Our story is a prime example of that. Our beagle exhibited really aggressive behavior at only 2 months old. It got so bad that we all had several puncture wounds, torn skin, and constant bleeding issues. He was so aggressive that even the vet recommended returning him to the breeder--Evan agreed with them. Even though that would mean he would lose out on a client--he wanted us to be safe, and our dog to be safe, even more. He even offered to help us find a new dog if we ended up having to send our puppy back to the breeder. He took my calls all week as we took our puppy to the vet, did research and HE consulted a beagle professional on our behalf. Finally, he came over late on a Friday--and really sat with our dog for a long time--and it was clear that our dog WAS capable of better behavior because that dog was on his BEST behavior for Evan! This gave us all hope and Evan was confident that our dog could definitely be trained out of the aggression. HE. WAS. RIGHT. We had to wait till our dog was old enough for training and Evan checked in on us FREQUENTLY to make sure we were all still ok. He gave us tips and tricks, well outside of the one puppy training class Dog Training Elite promotes. After just ONE in home session--our beagle stopped ALL aggressive behavior--over night(!!!!!!) Since that first session, our beagle is a COMPLETELY different dog. Our children (10, 7, 5) who were genuinely afraid of our dog and avoided him--flock to him every minute of the day--and he is the first "good morning" and the first "good night" for each of them. Evan and Dog Training Elite gave us this wonderful gift of helping our dog be the sweet and loving beagle he is now (and no longer a land shark!) Evan helped us save our relationship with this little dog who we love SO much and can't imagine our lives without. THANK YOU EVAN AND DOG TRAINING ELITE!

Evan is an amazing dog trainer. My nervous dog was fearful of tall men. Evan was able to turn him around immediately. He is no longer fearful and Evan really helped me to teach my dog better manners.

Our trainer Erin was absolutely amazing the last two weeks. I felt so comfortable dropping my baby boy off with her every morning. You can tell she truly cares about these animals. Every evening upon pickup she gave me a detailed description of what Scooby learned that day and how to continue his training at home. So worth the money. Love this place. Love Erin. Thankful to have a dog I can be more confident in. Thank you guys.

We went through off leash k9 training Phoenix. We have a 70+ pounds male Sheepadoodle, Murphy, who needed help with jumping on people, a calm behavior around strangers and grandchildren and taking walks. Our trainer, Brienna Ewoldt, was excellent. She is a calm, consistent trainer who tackled all of Murphy’s issues with confidence and presented us with a new and improved Murphy. Brienna mixed training with play and even got Murphy to ignore cats. His most important skill for me was the “heel” command. Murphy went from pulling on the leash and “greeting” every dog/owner he came across during a walk to staying right by my side without tugging. I heartily recommend both Off Leash K9 training Phoenix and Brienna Ewoldt. Annette Bowers, Chandler, AZ.

When we started looking for service dog training, we didn’t even know where to start, so we did a lot of research on trainers in the charlotte area. We were so impressed with Dog Training Elite. Sharon spent so much time answering every question we had through phone and emails, and we had a lot! When Shawn came out for our initial training, he was so thorough and not only was it obvious that he knew exactly what he was doing, he was able to also explain in a way our children understood. The following trainings were done by Angela and she too is so experienced, patient and good with our daughters! We saw changes in our dog from the very first visit with Shawn and continued to see results with Angela. Our young dog was so responsive and is moving on to the next phase in training. We have been very impressed and grateful that we found Dog Training Elite! They are kind, patient, experienced, informative and show clients how to get results with their dog training. We highly recommend them if you are considering any kind of dog training!

I can not say enough about how pleased I am with their service. Very kind, very professional in teaching me and my dog. My dog Goose is so calm now. I am not anxious as I walk with him. Our walks are relaxing for us both and this is huge. Over the top pleased with our training. Thank y'all so much! As I work in my front yard Goose is lying very calm without his leash even when a dog, runners go by, he is not distracted or run to meet them like before the traing. Elite is the best dog training, hands down.
