Diabetic alert service dogs will learn basic obedience and advanced tasks that are customizable, such as:

About Diabetes Assistance Dogs
A diabetic alert service dog is trained to identify the subtle changes in an individual’s blood chemistry and alert them or their caregivers to low blood sugar before critical symptoms occur. Individuals who would benefit from a diabetic alert dog may experience:
- Hypoglycemia Unawareness
- Control Blood Sugar with Insulin
- Frequent Hypoglycemia (Particularly at Night)
- Individuals that Live Alone
- Individuals with disabilities, or an inability to recognize and react to symptoms.
A diabetic alert service dog can decrease constant worries about hypoglycemia/hyperglycemia and improve the quality of life for those suffering from diabetes. Our Balanced Theory
We base our training around the "Classical Conditioning" model (a.k.a. "Pavlovian" or "respondent conditioning"). This includes developing conditioned or automatic reflexes to commands. In its simplest form (after proper conditioning), when the owner says "sit," the dog automatically sits without thinking about it. We have thoroughly enjoyed working with Bob and Dog Training Elite. Our large-breed puppy used to pull on walks, jump up on people, and run away from us when trying to get her inside. Now walks are a dream and I don’t worry about her jumping up or dragging me by the leash. I feel confident about taking her places and actually enjoy our walks now. We’ve just started our experience with DTE and couldn’t be happier. Our golden doodle puppy took to the training right away and the difference is night and day. We adopted an 80 lb mostly uncontrollable rescue dog in April. We met Bob in May and started sessions a few weeks later. We now have a dog who listens to us and has completed training!
