Our approach is based on positive reinforcement. We help you and your dog achieve sustained, deep-rooted obedience.
We do not use punishments or shock collars. We pair positive reinforcement training with an electronic collar for superior results. An electronic collar is not a shock collar and does not harm the dog but is used to gain the dog's attention, just as you would with the tug of a leash. It is never used as a punishment for bad behavior.

Our Balanced Theory
We base our training around the "Classical Conditioning" model (a.k.a. "Pavlovian" or "respondent conditioning"). This includes developing conditioned or automatic reflexes to commands. In its simplest form (after proper conditioning), when the owner says "sit," the dog automatically sits without thinking about it. Our unique techniques ensure our program is a success no matter what behavior we encounter.

Most dog training programs train the dog at their own facilities. They require minimal involvement from the owner and once the dog returns home the problem behaviors return as well. With our Denver in-home dog trainers, we personalize the training to you and your dog for long-lasting success.
The entire family can, and should, be involved as obedience can be undone as soon as training is disrupted by any one individual. Our comprehensive approach will be customized to you and your family to prevent loss of obedience.
Environment Specific Training
Because your dog's behaviors are specific to his or her surroundings, our trainers work with you and your dog in the environment that behavior occurs. Our in-home dog trainers in Denver provide a balanced and comprehensive approach working alongside dog owners to create strong bonds and sustained obedience.

DTE-Denver truly lives up to their tagline. They absolutely are the last dog trainers you'll ever need. I found DTE-Denver after my Goldendoodle was certified as a therapy dog through another trainer, but I didn't feel that her behavior was as reliable as I wanted it to be in order to to feel safe with students in my classroom. After 4 months of training with DTE, my pup passed her therapy test and is as reliable off-leash as she is on-leash. We love all of you at DTE-Denver! The Ballards have changed my life by training my dog and I to be the best team we can be! If you are looking for service dog training, I would highly recommend. Fantastic trainers and proven methodology. We have a 1 1/2 year old 80 lbs Sheepadoodle. Within about 6 weeks, he changed from a leash-puller to a full on off leash dog. We hike and run with him off leash and enjoy walking with him a lot more (I climbed a Colorado 14er with him yesterday fully off leash). Life-changing for us. Highly recommend.— Arun Sundar

I’ve been working with DTE Dog Training Elite, Since August 2021. Told them I had a 28 year old daughter with cognitively delayed Epilepsy, balance issues depression and anger, They found the perfect dog for my daughter. Nevaeh is only 5 1/2 months old and is very well trained/behaved, smart, and loving. DTE and the Ballard family have been so kind and helpful. I can’t say enough good things about our experience with Dog Training Elite-Denver! Our yellow Labrador, Luke, has done wonderfully—such an amazing transformation he has come through—with all the professional training from Dog Training Elite! He really looks forward to his training time everyday and loves Group Class as well! I LOVE our training time together and just the everyday stuff like…healing when we go for a walk and his eagerness to try to fit in with other dogs he doesn’t know…has become so much easier! It has definitely strengthened our bond even deeper.. plus we get to experience so many “Good Dog Days” together now! I couldn’t be happier with all the support, patience, expert training and helpful advice with whatever we needed. We really want to thank ALL of the trainers and especially the owners/trainers, Bert, Sarah and Adria, for helping us through every aspect of Luke’s training…and to be honest, more help was needed on my end then in Luke’s!
