Many individuals with type 1 diabetes spend their days constantly monitoring their blood sugar levels in order to prevent symptoms of hypoglycemia. If left untreated, low blood sugar levels can lead to seizures, blackouts, and even comas. There are early symptoms of hypoglycemia such as sweating, shaking, or confusion, however, after a few years, a person with type 1 diabetes may lose their ability to feel these symptoms as they develop Hypoglycemia Unawareness.
Living a balanced life with Type 1 diabetes isn't always easy. With the support of a diabetic alert dog, that balance becomes a possibility. Dog Training Elite has partnered with Tattle Tail Scent Dogs, the top diabetic alert service dog trainer in the country, to provide a diabetic alert service dog to assist with your needs. Your diabetic alert dog is a service dog you can take anywhere and who will aid you with alerting for stability, safety, and support.

About Diabetes Assistance Dogs
A diabetic alert service dog is trained to identify the subtle changes in an individual’s blood chemistry and alert them or their caregivers to low blood sugar before critical symptoms occur. Individuals who would benefit from a diabetic alert dog may experience:
- Hypoglycemia Unawareness
- Control Blood Sugar with Insulin
- Frequent Hypoglycemia (Particularly at Night)
- Individuals that Live Alone
- Individuals with disabilities, or an inability to recognize and react to symptoms.
A diabetic alert service dog can decrease constant worries about hypoglycemia/hyperglycemia and improve the quality of life for those suffering from diabetes. A service dog can accompany their handlers in almost all public facilities, transportation, and housing units. Our Balanced Theory
We base our training around the "Classical Conditioning" model (a.k.a. "Pavlovian" or "respondent conditioning"). This includes developing conditioned or automatic reflexes to commands. In its simplest form (after proper conditioning), when the owner says "sit," the dog automatically sits without thinking about it. Our unique techniques ensure our program is a success no matter what behavior we encounter.
-
Empowering Owners
We empower Owners to train so their dog knows who to obey at all times. -
Personalized
We deal with problem behaviors on a personal basis. -
Environment Specific
We train wherever issues tend to arise (i.e. jogging, park, home).
-
Supportive
We support Owners in the off-hours (when training is "not in session"). -
Involved
We work with all members of the household. -
Simplified & Customized
We plan training around the owner's schedule and require only 20 min/day follow-up practice.
-
Continued Training
Additional programs / group sessions offered after in-home training. -
Lifetime Investment
We follow up & are invested in the owner's success long-term. -
Satisfaction Ratings
Our high client satisfaction rating sets us apart from competitors.

Chuck and Cat are a fantastic team and were wonderful to work with. They are active members of the community and passionate about providing a quality service and improving lives of Dogs and their owners in Kansas City. They truly care about getting results and they are extremely personable yet professional and focused. I continue to keep in touch with them and hope that maybe Chuck will take me fishing one day now that the dogs will be very well behaved on the boat! I wish I could give 10 stars, highly recommend!— Kyle Christie

Such a fantastic experience, watching our pup, Bunny, grow week after week! We are so grateful to be a part of the Dog Training Elite KCS Family! It is such a relief to feel like we are able to enjoy our fur child anywhere we go; instead of feeling overwhelmed, frustrated and embarrassed trying to get her to mind. We are still in process of training, but the progress at just week 7 is mind blowing. I applaud the clear communication, demonstration, constructive criticisms, and support these trainers provide. Any trainer can train your dog, but a top of the line trainer will teach you how to train your dog and provide support... Dog Training Elite KCS has clearly shown they have TOP OF THE LINE Trainers. 100% will Recommend and we will use them again with our next pup!— Shayla Osborn
