Therapy dog training is based on your dog's abilities.

A therapy dog volunteers alongside you, where permitted, and provides comfort to others. Examples include cheering people up at nursing homes or hospitals.
A good therapy dog is naturally friendly with strangers, able to work around a high level of distraction (with training), and able to understand personal boundaries, such as not jumping up, licking, mouthing, etc (with training).

Psychiatric Service Dog

Our Balanced Theory
We base our training around the "Classical Conditioning" model (a.k.a. "Pavlovian" or "respondent conditioning"). This includes developing conditioned or automatic reflexes to commands. My mini Labradoodle started service dog training at 12 weeks old. Colin has always been very patient and made accommodations of the training specifically to my dog’s personality. Classical conditioning works best for my dog, Jisoo. She becomes the rockstar of dog obedience and behavior skills while attending DTE training sessions. Excellent experience and training! I've worked with Service dog trainers in Denver and was referred by them to Colin and Celeste, which carried a lot of weight - and I'm glad we chose to work with them! I have been very impressed by their flexibility and diligence in working with my dog. They are a young, hungry business, and clearly love what they are doing and the dogs.
