General

What is involved with a free assessment?

One of our trainers will visit your home to meet you and your dog and discuss any issues you're facing. We will then demonstrate one of our model dogs so you can see what you can expect after hiring our trainers. From there, we will discuss the various packages we offer and which we feel best suit your (and your dog's) needs.

How do your services differ from your competitors?

We provide full obedience training that covers all basic commands, both on and off-leash. Our in-home visits target specific issues like counter-surfing, digging, and more. Unlike some trainers, we work with all breeds, including those often considered challenging.

Will I (or my family) be involved with the training?

Yes. You (and anyone in your family who wants to be involved) are integral to your dog getting trained. We need you to practice 5-6 days a week, about 15-20 minutes a day for optimal results.

How often are the training sessions?

Once a week. We come to you (with the silver, gold and platinum packages) once a week to start your dog off, then you come to park sessions which are held once a week in Columbus.

I just have a few issues with my dog, can we cover those issues only?

To effectively resolve specific issues, we need to start with a solid foundation in obedience. This approach helps you become a confident leader for your dog, which is key to addressing and preventing behavioral problems.

Can you train husbands, wives or kids?

Nope. Those are dangerous grounds to tread upon. We'd much rather train a vicious dog!

Do you train all breeds, shapes and sizes?

We train dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments. Whether your dog is a tiny Chihuahua or a large Mastiff, we have the experience and expertise to work with them.

Do you work with aggressive dogs?

Yes. Working with and controlling aggression is one of our specialties in Columbus.

What kind of service dogs do you train?

We focus on training companion dogs for veterans and individuals with PTSD and other psychological conditions. In addition to service animals, we also train therapy dogs that visit hospitals, nursing homes, and treatment centers.

What kind of temperament does my dog need to have to be service trained?

To be a service dog, your dog needs to have an even temperament. Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, Standard Poodles, Goldendoodles, etc. typically have a great temperament for service work. For some types of service work, your dog will need to have AKC certifications (such as Canine Good Citizen or Community Canine) which we are able to certify. As always, we would be happy to assess your dog's aptitude for service work for free!

This was my first puppy living alone and wanting to also train him as a therapy dog I was really worried about messing up. Dog Training Elite has been amazing in guiding training without turning him into a robot clicker dog and meeting where he is at the training points. The individual training helps start and guide while the group classes help solidify the lessons with distractions around to really lock in. Brennan and Hannah are awesome and even outside of lessons I can ask them for help or clarifications on the lessons which has been amazing!

I highly recommend Brennan for dog training! I needed help with my new, very hyper puppy, and Brennan was a lifesaver. From the very first visit, he worked with him and I was honestly amazed—I barely recognized my own puppy! Brennan uses positive reinforcement methods that my dog responded to immediately. He learned new commands each visit, and I was given the tools to communicate effectively. The program is easy to follow, and now my puppy is well-behaved and loves spending time at the park. I highly recommend personalized training with this company to build a lifelong bond with your pet!

Brennan has been GREAT! our dog Aria was not responding when off leash and had some bad habits. Brennan listens to our concerns and gives us helpful advice, he is working with our daughter to help her learn how to get Aria to respond to her needs and is working with us to get Aria certified as a companion dog. I have attended traditional group obedience training sessions using treats with previous dogs, but my newest fur child is different from the others, and I wasn't sure if those obedience classes would be the best match for him. I was open to e-collar training, which is what initially brought me to Brennan, but I had concerns about irreparably traumatizing my pup. After working with Brennan, those concerns melted away. He has taught me to use multiple tools, in addition to the e-collar, to train the pup. In a short period, Brennan has helped me build a stronger relationship with my pup. While my pup is successfully learning how to be obedient and to play without being a jerk, more importantly, Brennan has provided me with a set of tools beyond treats and trained ME to use those tools to allow my pup to be his silly self while setting boundaries for his and others' safety. Brennan is not only great training the puppy, but has been great training me as well.

Brennan did an amazing job working with Charlie! He taught us both skills to help manage unwanted behaviors. This lead to more enjoyable and less stressful situations. Brennan is an amazing trainer. When I started with Elite dog training I was embarrassed to walk my pup, Nala. I would not take her to a park or any place she would see another dog. Nala is a great dog today! She walks beside me, does not pull towards other dogs or people and obeys commands. I now take her everywhere with me that a dog can go. I am so thankful for everything I have learned and the support from Brennan. Thank you!

Hi my name is Brennan O'Malley. I was born and raised in Mentor, Ohio. I am a graduate of Bowling Green State University with a degree in Hospitality. Once graduating, I realized I wanted to help people and make a difference, but my real passion was with dogs.

I love training my dogs, so when I came across Dog Training Elite I knew the company was the perfect fit for me. My dogs have always been important to me and I admired how DTE tailors training to meet a family's needs.

Dogs have always been a huge part of my life. I have a Pit Bull American Bulldog mix and a Portuguese Water Dog. In my free time, I like to take them swimming at the lake.

Hi, my name is Anna Burica! I was born and raised in Gahanna, Ohio, and have always had a strong passion for animals. I come from a background in veterinary medicine, where I worked as both a veterinary assistant and client service coordinator, giving me the opportunity to work closely with dogs and support their owners every day.

My passion for training really took off when I started working with my Goldendoodle, Millie. Through training her, I discovered a love for therapy and service dog work and saw just how life-changing it can be. I came across Dog Training Elite at the All American Pet Expo, and it was perfect timing!

Dogs have always been a huge part of my life, and I love being able to work with them every day. In my free time, I enjoy spending time on the jet ski at Alum Creek and taking Millie on walks!
