I was enormously impressed by the positive force of energy David conveyed while being firm with Casper while training him and myself that I was not asking Casper if he would like to load in the car but he was to load when I asked him to. It was a major hurdle over years we got over in minutes. Definitely will be who I turn to in any future behavioral issues. Recommend David and Nicole HIGHLY!!

We are so happy we decided to go with Elite to train our dog River! We brought home an 8 week old puppy knowing he needed a friend but not knowing how disobedient he would be. He was biting and acting out and now we have a completely different dog. I’m so thankful for David and Nicki who worked with my standard poodle, Katie. She’s naturally timid, but they were patient and gentle with her until she felt comfortable and safe. I cannot recommend DTE enough! We adopted our girl Zula and when we brought her home, she was a little ball of anxiety. She would bark and growl at visitors and hide in her crate to avoid anyone that wasn't us. She barked at people on walks, she would lay down and shake if we needed to go in the car, and she had to be muzzled at the vet (just in case) because of her growling and fear/anxiety. We were scared to have people over thinking her anxiety could turn into aggression. After just the free assessment visit with David and Nicole, they gave us some pointers and we saw an IMMEDIATE change in her trusting us more and calming down a bit. Needless to say, we bought a training package, and Jenny was our main trainer! Six visits later and Zula is a totally different dog - she's very confident and our bond with her is one of trust and security. She's happier and more confident, we can take her out to breweries with us no problem, she greets new visitors really well and there's no more growling. And she's not scared of the car! She can still get overstimulated at times, but we now have the tools to work with that. We're really looking forward to attending the group training classes included in the package we purchased. David, Nicole and Jenny really know their stuff! If we ever need a training service again, we won't be looking anywhere else!

I first reached out to David from Dog Training Elite Asheville when I had just moved to Asheville, and my dog was stressed, behaving aggressively, and resource guarding. I started working with the DTE-Asheville team a few months ago, to train my dog Toby as a service dog. I found them via online search and really appreciated how informative their website was, that they are an official/approved trainer for recognized service dogs, and that they will train your existing dog (vs being required to adopt a specific puppy to train for this purpose). Then when I spoke with David on the phone and met him for the initial consultation, I knew they were the right choice for me and Toby. We started with a few weeks of basic obedience training - that's the first step for every dog going through their program and it's a game changer! Toby had done "puppy class" years before and knew some basic commands, but still was a leash puller when excited and only had reliable recall when cheese was involved. Recall was fixed and 100% perfect after just the first training session and has remained perfect since! And he also now reliably walks to heel when requested too. We're nearly through the full program and I'm going into his last couple of sessions confident in his service dog skills and that he will pass the tests required to earn the certification. I would recommend Dog Training Elite Asheville to any pet parent who is committed to working with their dog!

David and Nikki are phenomenal trainers! Simba, our rescued retriever, was bit the day after the hurricane by a German Shepard. He began to show aggression and biting. After 3 bites, in which all the people had to go to Urgent Care, we began to think we were going to have to put him down. We took him to the Vets to check if anything was physically wrong. Everything checked OK. By some miracle, and a long, but good story, Nikki and David reached out to us. We signed up for their training immediately. A great adventure began. They gave us hope and trained us and Simba for proper responses. He is a different dog. We now have the knowledge and tools to work with, and we can safely say, he is not a biter any longer! I was diagnosed with Autism as an adult over three years ago. I've been trying to find a way to afford a service animal since then. I almost gave up... the dogs I was finding were upwards of $40k! I couldn't afford it... When I found David at Dog Training Elite, he offered training at a tenth of the price I was finding, I just had to acquire the pup on my own. I wanted to train a rescue instead of getting a dog from a breeder--David came with me to help me pick out a trainable pup at no cost! Exciting news! A couple of months ago, I started training my Saint Bernard, Gus, with Dog Training Elite. Gus was starting to train me with Treat training and I needed a better program for this big guy. With the professional guidance of David Webb, Gus has grown to be a well-mannered, manageable, attentive dog. And treats are optional. I am thrilled with his progress and grateful for trainers who really understand how dogs communicate, socialize, respond to stimuli, express emotions, and interact with people, animals, and their environment.

On Day one with them, they came inside our house and explained lots of how and what they do to train the wild new puppy (Laddie) who is in our life now. And then, we went outside to the back yard. And this is where it really began. They "broke" Laddie that day and I say this in the nicest and best way/meaning possible. They showed Laddie that he is not his own boss and that he must learn to listen and obey ME. This changed us and since that day Laddie is listening and learning every day. We just finished Day 6 of in home training, at Lowes, with all new stimulations and people and dogs. Laddie was confidant and comfortable in that brand new space. David is amazing! My Basenji, Avele, is pretty stubborn but when she sees David, she takes all of what she learned from him and is the perfect puppy. David helped us determine the best training for her when she was only a few months old. His method works. I love that he came to our house... and our cats learned some of the training too as they decided to attend Avele's classes. I don't recommend often, but I cannot recommend Dog Training Elite Asheville enough.

I recommend Dog Training Elite Asheville to anyone as they've helped me all around with my Chow Chow and his behaviors. They provided me the skills and knowledge of how to take control My 6 year old Chow Chow. Immediately they saw one of his problems was that my pup did not respect/listen to me and they showed me how to be Alpha. Also, my dog started becoming a leash reactive and reactive to other dogs that I started to avoid going to the park and socializing him because I was afraid of something he might do. The group training aspect of this really has helped him and I've seen a major improvement in his behavior that I feel comfortable now with my pup!

Aspen needed some fresher training; training on things she never learned; as well as stopping some new bad habits she recently developed. These people know what they’re doing. I have a three year-old male Shih Tzu that was difficult to manage and after 2 - 1hour sessions he is.no longer excessively barking, walks on a leash well and is not rattled by people or other dogs on walks. I really didn’t know where to start with dog training or how long it would take but a simple call to Asheville Dog Academy and two sessions later we are really enjoying our Shih Tzu Mocha so much more! The treat dogs with such gentle care and respect.

David was an amazing character in my life. He showed me how to install and manipulate essential behaviors of a legitimate working animal associated with medical help. I am a caring, gentle and responsible handler of a fine tuned and elite fur baby named Maurly. She has become such a better more satisfied dog after this training and I personally believe you will be a more humane dog owner for the rest of your life after tuning in to your animals’ life and sensitivities with the help of an elite professional.

Ok…. I feel like a little backstory is required before our review. We are a full-time RV family, and we travel with three kids and three dogs. One of our dogs loves to run out of the RV and run off and she absolutely would not come back to us. It was a game. Last year, she ran off THREE TIMES while we were on our drive up to Alaska. She ran off In a field next to an interstate in Montana. She ran off when we were out in the boondocks outside of Valdez, Alaska. And she ran off when we pulled off to the side of the road to get something in the middle of nowhere on the Cassiar highway in Northern British Columbia. It was incredibly dangerous. Not only that, but she was fear aggressive towards literally every other dog she saw and she was very skittish around other people. We purchased the training at Dog Training Elite while here in Asheville. It has been a night and a difference with our dog, Roxy. By the end of the first session, she was going up to David for attention. That was unheard of before. And now, we could let her go run around all she wants, and call her back and she will come right back to us. We have been very, very pleased with the training that we did here. She is a completely different dog. We are still working through a few things with her, but we definitely feel like now we have the tools to handle it. We can’t thank them enough.

We were seeking support with our sassy pup, Murphy, who picks and chooses when she likes other dogs! Nicole and David have been incredible in helping us gain confidence in how to best support Murph and how to handle situations where she becomes aggressive/avoid them altogether! They have been super easy to communicate and schedule with, have been available if we had a quick question outside of training, and the group classes have been SO helpful in desensitizing our pup with other dogs! We have a Rottweiler puppy that came from a rough and tumble background and was struggling to feel secure in his new home. He had resource guarding issues, jumped on everyone he met, and didn’t like being groomed to the point that he would lash out. Our Dog Hugo is a 70# Golden Doodle rescue, we are his 3rd home. He had issues barking, chasing cars, and being aggressive with a few of the male dogs in the neighborhood. He pulled me down a few times when we first got him. He jumped on one of my neighbors recently after she had a knee replacement and that was not acceptable. We have tried other local training facilities and Hugo didn't get much better. David and Nicole have made a huge difference in Hugo's behavior, and his quality of life. He actually has more freedom now because he knows what we are asking and he is eager to please. He enjoys the training we are doing and he seems happier now because we are able to take him more places with confidence. We are happier also. I like the approach they use in training. Treats are not used as the reward. Even our neighbors have noticed that Hugo is calmer and doesn't bark at them when they pass by our house. I am so pleased with the quality of the training. We began working with them last fall and our 1 yr old husky mix has transformed in ways that has been so good for her self-esteem and she is well on her way to beginning service dog training. She was overly submissive and did not know how to greet any new person or dog without rolling over in submission and not having confident boundaries. She now is able to perform all of her basic obedience commands and trust in her confidence when meeting new people and dogs. We met the Dog Training Elite Asheville folks at the Apple Festival in Sept 2023. We were so impressed with their knowledge and their dogs onsite were trained and so well behaved...I kept the business card for when we would rescue a new dog. The time came and we have completed 5/6 training sessions and our 7 year golden lab rescue has gone from knowing only a couple of commands with no boundaries; barking; mouthing; etc., to a 180 of listening and obeying. At first we were a bit surprised at the cost BUT it's well worth the money. It's super convenient that they come to our home for our 1:1 sessions and then we work on our own with daily training. I would highly recommend them with five golden stars :)

We have a very reactive dog with massive anxiety. It was so bad that we couldn’t have people over to our house because the dog would viscously bark and lunge, and occasionally nip visitors. We worked with a few trainers who encouraged positive reinforcement with the use of treats and simple commands. Unfortunately, with our dogs demeanor and history, that method was ineffective. Within one meeting with David and Nicole our dog went from fierce growling, lunging, and muzzle punching to listening to our commands, and attempting to avoid the situation entirely. After two more sessions our dog was off muzzle, calm, and training easily. He now tolerates visitors to our house, and will quickly reverse course during a visit if he starts to become worried. We put our trust in David and Nicole and it truly paid off. I can not say enough good things about not only the way they train dogs and their humans, but also just how much they care about us and our dog.

We used Dog Training Elite Asheville to help get our dog trained and registered as a therapy dog for our childcare business. We looked at all other dog training options in the area before settling on them. We felt really confident that they knew what they were doing and they did a wonderful job at helping us through the process. David and Nicole are always open and honest about where our dog was in the process and never made us feel like we were taking unnecessary steps in his training. My dog, Abbey, had a lot of the basics down pat but was ready to do Service Dog and Therapy Dog training. David and Nicole have moved her through the training smoothly and easily. For every place I got stuck, they had a solution. The training is kind and positively reinforced without the constant trail of treats that leave the dog only performing for food in the hand. I saw new skills in Abbey very quickly each time they were introduced. She loves David and Nicole and looks forward to their arrival at our house for training days. I highly recommend them!

I cannot say enough amazing things about training with David! I told him I had to write a 12 hour miracle review. After adopting my pup in August, we were solely doing positive reinforcement training .. which actually led us to behavior issues while walking on the leash & in the house. We moved from out of state, which really stressed him out and escalated the behavior. Again, saw a behaviorist in the area with very poor results from solely positive reinforcement- it created a bratty teenage puppy. After our very first lesson with David, I didn’t even recognize my dog the next morning. That whole first week- overall SOO much better behaved. Our second lesson we worked on our sit stays with dropping the leash - before that I could never even imagined doing such a thing! It been 2 days since our second lesson and again I don’t recognize my dog in the best way. I’m 100% convinced this method of balance training and working with David is worth every penny. Bodhi was already a great dog, but now he’s even better!

PLEASE READ TO INSURE HAPPY WELL TRAINED DOG My wife and I have always had dogs. After our 12 and 14 year old Portuguese Water Dogs passed away we waited for 4 years before bringing a Mini-Bernese Mountain Dog into our home. Being in our 70's we just weren't up to training a puppy. We sought individual training and the first several lessons were okay. Due to the energy of our 9 month old puppy, my wife and I were strongly encouraged to board our dog for a month for more intense training. This is not what our sweet, lively puppy needed. We did not agree with giving our dog away for 4 weeks for other people to do in essence what we need to do in our home. Not giving up and realizing how much in-home training made since, we called Dog Training Elite. Our first session was a wonderful experience for us as well as for our puppy. We have had only three training sessions and have experienced great growth in the behavior of our dog, Daffodil. The technics Dog Training Elite teach encourages the dog to want to please in a loving environment. We highly recommend the professional, knowledgeable methods of Dog Training Elite, Steve and Roslyn Seneker

We used David and Nicki with Dog Training Elite to train our mixed-breed dog Zaria who was getting increasingly leash reactive. We started training her on recall and it was like she knew that there were other things that she wasn’t supposed to do, like reacting to other dogs and eating goose poop. Those other behaviors started improving before we even started specifically addressing them. We now live in CA near an off leash dog beach and Zaria has a solid recall and sits well at a distance. I also like that I can use the collar to reinforce “not eating nasty stuff”. At first I was concerned about using a “shock collar” but after reading other reviews and starting the training I am very comfortable with the e-collar system. The stimulation levels range from 1 to 99. Zaria works at a 3, a level of stimulation that I can’t even feel. We also use a collar system on our own with our English bulldog Kaiju to train “quiet” in the house. Again, when the collar is on he seems to “knows” when he shouldn’t be barking. I believe that the Dog Training Elite system gives a well-structured, easy to follow system for training a dog that is very useful when working at a distance from the dog and is not harmful to the dog. In fact David and Nicki were definitely favorite people for Zaria and she would be super excited to see them when they arrived for training. I think the training has made her overall a more confident dog when out and not so “worried” about the world.

I have been so happy with the results this training has achieved. David is the perfect model for me loving my dog but shaping his behaviors so we can go more places and have more fun together. David trained me and Fenn. It really worked. I highly recommend David and his team.

Having been through multiple trainers we have finally found our home/fit/results with Dog Training Elite. Great and reliable! We trained our Bernedoodle puppy with David and he was great accommodating our special needs. Our puppy began learning commands soon after starting work with the educator collar. David dedicates time to explain and make sure all questions are answered, and clearly guides you to properly command/correct your dog. We adopted Eleanor from the shelter when she was three years old. Based on her history, we knew we were her fourth home. She was a very sweet dog, but did not trust us at all. She was afraid to come into the house, and would not come to us when called. She also became very reactive when playing with other dogs. We started searching for trainers, and fortunately found David and Nicki! I cannot say enough about the training, they are compassionate, knowledgeable, and supportive. After four sessions, Eleanor trusts us completely. She is able to go on outings with us, loves to meet new people, and is a completely trusting dog. Whenever we were sitting in the house before training began, Eleanor would make sure to be as far away from us as possible. Now, she is by our side all of the time. She eagerly looks to us for affection, and has become a very confident dog. The training program is amazing. You actually get 24 weeks of training, six of those weeks are private one on one sessions., followed by 16 classes. Your dog is with you for many many years. It is well worth the investment! I highly recommend David and Nicki!

10/10 would recommend Dave and Nicki for your dog training needs. I have a 1 1/2 year old Blue Heeler who struggled with fear based aggression, and who I was afraid to bring out into public. After going through the training process I am much more confident taking my pup places with me. This is all because I was given the proper tools and knowledge via the training we received. My pup and I are much happier out and about now!

No longer am I being pulled around the neighborhood by my dogs on our walks - now they walk next to me with a loose leash. My dogs come when called, they stop barking when told to, they don't even try to lick the dirty dishes in the dishwasher anymore. David and Nicki are great to work with - they're flexible, accommodating, patient, and knowledgable... and they did an excellent job training both our dogs and us! Highly recommend!

DTE has been a lifesaver for our chocolate lab, Gracie Mae. We did Puppy Training with another company where we went to them and it didn't seem to work very well. I’ve had such a great experience with David and Nicki. My dog was reactive around new people and dogs due to an attack as a puppy. After just 4 sessions of training I have noticed a huge decrease in mine and my dogs stress!! They were very understanding of my dogs circumstances and have work hand in hand with me!

David and Nicki have been absolutely amazing with my dog obsdian. The training they have provided have taken a lot of anxiety and fear out of him and he is a lot more relaxed and is able to go out to breweries. Obsdians obedience is now amazing. We couldn’t love our Moka any more than we do, but she had developed some habits that were making us anxious. She didn’t come when called, she jumped up on people in her enthusiasm to greet them warmly, and she barked like a nut at everything that passed the house. David and Nicki taught us how to tap into Moka's intelligence to instantly fix these problems, without squelching her sweet personality. Their training techniques are the most effective we’ve ever experienced. The problems are solved, we’re more relaxed, and Moka has more freedom because we know she’ll come when called and do the other things we need her to do for her own and others’ safety. We couldn't recommend David and Nicki’s training more highly.

They provided great, personalized information to make training Augie fun and engaging for him and our family. So happy with David and Nicole’s training for my pup Chester! He had adapted some bad behaviors through my ex and other circumstances (and lack of my own training). With David and Nicole’s gentle but effective training methods, I saw big improvements even after one session. Chester used to heavily yank on the leash when seeing other dogs or anything for that matter. He always ran ahead instead of walking to heel. He barked a lot. And had a few other behavioral issues (to no fault of his own, except for some of his stubbornness ;) ) he quickly learnt what heeling was and is now barking only when at home and wanting to participate in outside conversations, which I’m very quickly able to intervene in, gently. He now helps me carry small packages and mail, I’ve been able to take him to restaurants with outdoor seating and to fairs etc. he’s now much more a companion than I thought would ever be possible. His life is a lot more fulfilling and I’m so happy to have my ‘baby’ with me almost all day long now. Thank you Dog Training Elite Asheville!!

We have a big pit/hound mix that had some pretty bad anxiety/aggression issues due to another dog attack that happened to him when he was 6 months old. After four years, things had gotten so bad we no longer felt comfortable taking him out in public or letting people come to the house. We tried many trainers and techniques, but David and the Elite training method has been the only one that works and completely transformed our dog. Within only four sessions he went from barking at every creature to pass by our house, to actively greeting people with a happy tail and loving kisses. I’ve had dogs my entire life and I’ve always been told my dogs are so good, but I didn’t know how to get what I truly wanted out of my dogs… and it was never their fault! David from Elite dog training has helped me to reach a whole new level and we are still adding commands that have gotten so much easier as my dog now knows how to learn. Outstanding, they took a stubborn, misbehaved, difficult, uncontrollable Mini Bull Terrier puppy and over a few weeks turned it into a “sweetheart”, not perfect, but well on her way. Given a few more months of age, it will most certainly be a perfect pet.

The two humans that run this show are great. They give me praise all the time. I am a 10 month old shepherd mix who adores these two humans. They have trained me to be the best girl for my mom and our family. Mom said I was always a good girl but got frustrated with me not doing what she said, like ever. Now I know how to sit, down, heel, off (still working on that one, I get so excited still), place, and quiet. I still do not like quiet but I do it for mom. I think all dogs should be trained by Dog Training Elite out of Asheville. Mom, dad, and dog approved.

David and Nikki were magicians with our 8-week old German Shepherd puppy. They had her mastering “come” in one session. We love that they come to the house for one-on-one sessions, giving us and our pup confidence in six short weeks to join the group classes. We are sold. I can't say enough about Dog Training Elite. They started working with me and my 9-week-old black Labrador Retriever and it has been a game changer. Charlie is now 7 months old. She was a sweet but crazy puppy. She was a typical rambunctious, playful, happy girl but constantly getting into trouble, biting, jumping and chewing everything. After working with Dave and Nicole she is so well behaved and getting better every day. We have now graduated to group classes and I love them. I find them even better for myself than for Charlie. The classes have given us both much needed confidence with eachother as well as with others. The one-on-one classes taught me how to train Charlie with the basics and now I look forward to the group classes to practice and become more socialized with other dogs and other people and we are both learning new things every week. Charlie is still a rambunctious puppy but super sweet, much more well behaved and listens to me more than any other dog I've had. David and Nicole have been absolutely AMAZING!! From day one we never have any doubts that we chose the BEST of the BEST! We cannot thank them enough for all the time, energy, and effort they put in to make our sweet Ollie a fully (and properly) trained service dog for my husband. They go above and beyond, coming into our home to train for several weeks meant the world to us, due to my husband's TBI, being out in large crowds are extremely difficult to navigate, however, now we slowly integrate into our next milestone with Ollie's training, giving my husband some independence back that he lost with his Brain Injury. The team at Elite has been patient and kind. I have a sweet pup who has been learning doggie manors and hopefully graduating towards Service Dog training. We needed some training for our miniature schnauzer who was a yapper. We found the Dog Training Elite booth at the Apple Festival and they have been fantastic! Nicole came and did a demo with her own dog to show us what we could expect with regards to the commands taught…with no expectation that we would even hire DTE. But we did, immediately!! Nicole was great right from the beginning, making our puppy feel safe and comfortable and confident. She helped us learn the training techniques in order for us to reinforce the training with our dog so she could move on the next week to the next command. We appreciated her efforts so much we hired DTE to come train our two new puppies we had just gotten. DTE is a vital resource you need if you want a well behaved and adjusted dog. Highly recommend!!

We have a 5 year old Aussie who was VERY stubborn and territorial and couldn't be around other dogs. Nicky and David taught us how to properly address these issues and how utilizing an E-collar was effective while not hurting our pup. Good training for owners and their dogs. 5 Stars!

Nicole was our dog trainer for our English Creme retriever. Nicole is very responsive, communicates, and delivered on DTE's promise to give us the tools to start & continue training our dog. She was open to what we were willing to do as far as training and honest about the time and consistency it takes to train the dog. We enjoyed having her in our home & usually ran over her allotted time b/c she is just friendly to visit with! Gus loved her & was always excited to see her truck pull up!

I HIGHLY recommend contacting Dog Training Elite AVL ⭐️⭐️🌟⭐️⭐️ Myself and my Aussie, Indy have really enjoyed our one-on-one sessions with trainer, Nicole and I’m excited to start the group sessions. I met with a couple other trainers and didn’t agree with some of their training methods but when I met Nicole I knew I found Indy’s trainer. You’re not only training your dog, you’re training yourself. You will only get out what you put into the training and you have to be consistent and you will see results.

Nicole is absolutely amazing! She is professional and friendly. She is a great teacher and very patient! My dog is huge (90lbs) and he listens so well now. I highly recommend her services! You won’t regret it!

We started working with DTE in September 2022 to train our Black Lab to become a service animal for our youngest son. DTE has been absolutely INCREDIBLE! Nicole and David are AWESOME!! First off, you can tell these folks love dogs and genuinely care about helping them...and you. We have an American Bully puppy that is extremely hyper! This is only our fourth session and I can't express what a huge difference they have already made. I know this training is an investment, but it is so worth it! If you seriously want a well behaved dog and actually listen/follow the instructions Nicole and David provide, you will be more than pleased with the results.
