Trying to teach disobedient dogs even the most basic commands can be extremely frustrating. Unless you have the patience, time and knowledge necessary, turning your pup into a loyal, obedient pet may seem nearly impossible. Frustration with your dog's disobedience can also hinder your relationship as it may cause you to yell at or become upset with your pet. So if you find yourself wondering how to teach your dog basic commands and desperately searching for professional dog training, Dog Training Elite has the program you need!
Dog Elite Training provides professional dog obedience training services. Our training technique method is based on positive reinforcement and classical training. Through a combination of commands and an electronic collar, your k9 will learn to follow your commands at once. The electronic collar is not a shock collar; it is a gentle electronic pulse, similar to the tug of a leash, used to get your dog’s attention. Other dog trainers use harsh static collars or spray collars which have been shown to be less effective. Dog Training Elite solely focuses on positive behavior reinforcement in order to nurture your dog’s natural obedient nature.
Basic Obedience Training With Dog Training Elite
New dog owners may be surprised to learn that training should begin as soon as possible. The younger you start teaching your puppy, the faster he will learn. While puppies may not be able to comprehend complex commands, basic obedience taught early on transforms your dog into a well-behaved and loyal pet. At Dog Training Elite, we have a specialized dog obedience training course for both puppies and older dogs. While starting young is optimal, it is possible to teach an old dog new tricks!
Our professional dog trainers offer the best k9 training services. We understand that each and every dog is unique. When meeting with your k9, we will observe his breed, size, temperament, and any other factors that will influence training. By working directly with you and your dog within your home, our trainers can develop a personalized training plan for your k9. Through simple, in-home training sessions, your k9 will learn simple commands like: sit, stay, lay, come, heel, and place. Once your k9 has acquired these basic commands, we can introduce group classes for more in-depth training.
Our obedience program covers the following basic commands:
- Sit - The "sit" command is simple and sets the foundation for all other commands. Once your dog comprehends this command, others will follow easily.
- Come - This command teaches puppies to listen to you and can ensure safety. A puppy that comes when called will stay close to home and out of trouble.
- Stay - A lesson in self control, the "stay" command may be tricky for some overzealous puppies. With the assistance of a professional trainer from Dog Training Elite, however, your puppy will catch on quick.
- Drop It - This command allows you to keep your pet safe from danger. Puppies are curious and tend to explore with their mouths - "drop it" ensures they don't swallow anything poisonous or chew anything of value.
Our Balanced Theory
We base our training around the "Classical Conditioning" model (a.k.a. "Pavlovian" or "respondent conditioning"). This includes developing conditioned or automatic reflexes to commands. In its simplest form (after proper conditioning), when the owner says "sit," the dog automatically sits without thinking about it. Our unique techniques ensure our program is a success no matter what behavior we encounter.

Why Is My Dog So Bad? - Common Behaviors of Untrained Dogs
Training a new dog takes a lot of time and effort but the payoff is well worth it. Every pet owner wants a dog that is loyal, friendly, and well behaved. Unfortunately, some dogs require more training than others. Due to breed type, past trauma, or just plain stubbornness, some dogs can be quite difficult to train. Don't let frustration get in the way of your training program. With the professional dog trainers of Dog Training Elite, you can have the loyal and obedient pet you dream of.
While each dog is unique and has its own obedience issues, there are a few behaviors that are typical of most poorly trained dogs:
Shoes, socks, furniture - anything your dog can get his paws on is likely to become his favorite chew toy. If you do catch your dog chewing, don't scold him. Just take away the object and replace it with an approved chew toy or bone.
Whining or Barking
The best way to eliminate whining / barking behavior is by ignoring it. Only engage your dog when he is quiet and composed and he will soon learn that barking or whining gets him nowhere.
Jumping for Greeting
Jumping up is a natural way to greet for dogs, but for humans it can be scary and unwanted. If your dog jumps up to greet you, turn away and ignore him. Only say hello or pet him when he has all four paws on the ground.
Begging for Food
Even the best trained dogs are susceptible to begging behavior. The best way to eliminate this behavior is to never feed your dog from the table.
With basic training principles, most of these typical behaviors can be quickly eliminated. If you have a dog that's stubborn, it will take more time and effort. If you don't have time to devote to training, it's best to hire a professional dog trainer. Dog Training Elite's most popular training program focuses on these specific obedience issues. For dog obedience training , we are the local professionals you can count on. We use classical conditioning and positive reinforcement for the best results. Even the "worst" dogs don't stand a chance against our training program.
In-Home Obedience Training Near You
Whether you've introduced a new puppy to the family or recently adopted an older dog, a mischievous pup can have you desperately searching for "obedience training near me." Unlike other dog training companies that teach puppies in large (distracting) classes with often poor results, our obedience training is an in-home program.
Highly personalized, our in-home training program offers a unique touch that other dog training companies can't match. In a large obedience class, your dog will be surrounded by other dogs, people, and outdoor sights and smells. All of these distractions spell major disaster for any training. Additionally, if your dog is learning only from a trainer and not you, it will be hard to form a strong bond with your pet and he may be inclined to disobey when the trainer is not around. To avoid these common pitfalls of traditional training classes, Dog Training Elite sticks to an in-home training obedience program.
During the training session, we will work directly with you and your dog. This allows your dog to understand that you are boss and will encourage him to obey you even after the trainer leaves. Our trainers will teach you tips and tricks so you can continue teaching your dog after the training session is completed. We empower owners to be a part of our dynamic training process. We will teach your dog basic obedience commands and address any unique issues (such as anxiety, aggression, fear, etc). For a solid obedience training program, you can count on Dog Training Elite.

Dog Training Elite Dog Obedience School
Unlike cuteness, obedience is not an inherited trait. It can be taught, however! If you have been searching for a dog obedience school near you, you have come to the right place. Obedience commands are the foundation for every well trained dog. Dog Training Elite is a leader in dog obedience training. We have a two step obedience program to ensure a successful training regime. Beginning with an in-home observance of your dog and private training sessions, we ensure that your dog understands all basic obedience commands and that you are the one who is control. After completion of the in-home training sessions, your dog will participate in group classes which exposes him to training in a distracting environment. The Dog Training Elite dog obedience training program is comprehensive and will leave you with a pup that is loyal, loving, and 100% obedient!
In-Home Dog TrainingThis part of the obedience program is designed to address your dog's unique behavioral problems. Your dog is most comfortable in his home environment so this is where he exhibits problem behaviors (like terrorizing the cat or chasing the mailman). Dog obedience schools that only offer group classes miss the opportunity to correct these problems.
At Dog Training Elite, we use private training to understand your dog’s unique personality. This is where most of the training takes place - your dog will learn commands like sit, stay, come, place, etc. The next stage is to test these commands in a distracting setting!
Group ClassesA dog that eagerly listens in the quiet of your own home may be less likely to respond at the dog park where birds, squirrels, other dogs and people are present. That is why we include a group class session in our dog obedience training program. We will test all of the commands we taught your dog at home in the presence of his doggie friends and humans in the great outdoors!
FAQs of Our Dog Obedience Training Program
If you are interested in enrolling your dog for our obedience training program, but still have some questions, read the answers to our most commonly asked questions below!
Dog Training Elite trains dogs of “any breed, any size, any age!” Obedience training is best completed as soon as possible, and we happily take puppies into our classes. But don’t fret if you have an older dog that never received proper training, there is still hope! We can teach basic obedience commands no matter the breed, size, or age of your dog.
We will address any particular behavioral issues and teach your dog to respond to the following commands:
- Place / Bed
- Heel (no leash pulling)
- Off (the couch, bed, etc.)
No, we never use pain or punishment in any form during our training programs. A combination of positive reinforcement and an electronic collar has proven to be 100% successful. The electronic collar produces a gentle “tug” to get your dog's attention. It is not a shock collar and does not harm or alarm your pet.
In-home training is necessary because it allows our trainers to focus on the particular issues of your dog (like terrorizing your pet cat or chasing the mailman). During the in-home training sessions we will also work side by side with you and any other family members so your dog understands who is in control.
