Summer Friendly Activities for You and Your Dog
Post by: Amber on Jul 25 2017
Are you looking for some fun and safe summer activities for you and your dog? Here are six ideas to make the most of the sunshine with your furry friend.
Go to a Dog-Friendly Beach
Dog-friendly beaches are a great way to cool down and have fun with your pup. There are plenty of activities to do; such as Frisbee throwing, walking, or playing in the water. If you’re worried about your dog’s swimming skills, putting them in a lifejacket is a big help. And if you’re afraid your dog may run away, you may want to consider putting them on a leash long enough for them to have a good time, but short enough that they won’t get too far.
Bring the Water to Your Backyard
If you’re not interested in going to the beach or don’t have the option, try making a watery refuge in your own backyard. Swimming in kiddie pools and running through sprinklers are a big hit with most dogs trying to keep cool in the summer heat. It’s a much needed cool-down for your dog, and great entertainment for you.
Go on a Road Trip
Nothing says bonding like a road trip with man’s best friend. If your dog enjoys car rides, this could be the perfect activity for you. Be sure to plan accordingly beforehand and research hotels or bed and breakfasts that allow dogs.
Find a Dog Park
While trips to a regular park can be fun, dog parks provide a great opportunity for both you and your dog to make new friends this summer. Most cities have designated dog parks where dogs can roam off leash and are free to interact with each other. Just make sure that your dog is up-to-date with their vaccinations!
Take a Hike
What better way to enjoy summer than spending time in the great outdoors? Hiking with your pup not only gives you both a fun exercise, but it also makes for great bonding. Just make sure that both you and your dog have plenty of water and take breaks when needed
Summer is the perfect time to go camping with your pup. Find a dog-friendly campsite, bring enough food and water for both you and your dog, then let the fun begin! Just make sure that your dog stays cool, hydrated, and safe throughout the trip.
The summer months are a perfect time to get out there and make some memories with your pup. Enjoy the warm weather while you can, and make sure that you take proper precautions to keep both you and your dog safe. Do you have any questions or concerns?
