The best time to start training your Goldendoodle is from day one! If you bring your new four-legged family member home as a puppy, we recommend you start Goldendoodle dog training as soon as possible. Puppies are eager to learn and please, so starting commands from a young age will build a firm foundation for more training as they grow.
We offer training programs for puppies as young as eight weeks. But don't worry if you start training with your Goldendoodle later in life. Our tried–and–true Dog Training Elite training programs work for dogs of any age.
Goldendoodle Training Tips Begin with Simple Commands
The best way to start training—whether as a puppy or a grown dog—is with simple commands. Starting with simple and easy–to–understand commands will build confidence and trust with your dog. This is essential with a sensitive dog like a goldendoodle. We suggest starting with commands like “sit,” “stay,” “down,” and “come” Once you and your pup have these commands down, it will be easier for both of you to move on to more complex and fun commands.
Goldendoodle Training Tips Work on Eliminating Unwanted Behaviors
Although Goldendoodles have many desirable traits, a few undesirable behaviors are associated with them. The behaviors that we often see are trouble with house training, jumping, and barking. Once you have developed a good training foundation with simple commands, you can start working on eliminating unwanted behaviors.

Before the training, my dog was barking at any sound, any movement in the house, never listened to commands. He was already pretty good with walking on the leash but would pull on occasion. Now that he’s completed his training, I almost don’t recognize him, in a good way of course. He is a completely different dog now, he obeys commands in the house and stops barking after the initial alert to someone at the door. I am beyond grateful for Shawn and Sharon for the training provided for me and my dog. I will always recommend them to anyone that has behavior issues. Great experience! Big take aways.... 1. Aided with detachment from mom doggie 2. Aided in a nice transition with crate training 3. These guys are incredible! Our Bailey was well behaved except for jumping up and pulling on her leash. After one session with Shawn the walking issue was done and after two sessions she was a different dog. She's such a pleasure to be around and love. Shawn is the best! We adopted our dog at 7.5 weeks old and he was TERRIBLE! After a lot of research, we decided to go with DTE and chose the Gold Puppy Package. We noticed a difference after our first session. Shawn was very patient with us and our dog and he explained everything very thoroughly. Shawn planned out the sessions in an order that worked best for our dog. Our dog is now 5 months old and doing great. We just completed obedience training and attended our first group class. Amazing! Dog Training Elite Charlotte has been working with my Doberman since she was 8 weeks old. We picked up our sweet girl on Saturday and they were at my house on Monday helping. They are available 24/7 to help with any questions you may have. I could not imagine going through this without their help. My Doberman is going on 5 months and she is calm and listens very well. We found Dog Training Elite Charlotte to be an excellent team to train our daughter’s dog to become a service dog. Our daughter has some learning disabilities and needed a therapy dog to help her cope with some of the challenges she faces. Shawn began our process with an introduction to the program and explained how things would proceed. He conducted the first session and then Angela took over the program. She developed an excellent relationship with our daughter and earned the trust and confidence of our daughter and her dog. Obedience training went very well and prepared Lilly for the next steps of group training and public access training. Any time we had questions, all we had to do was call or send a text and got a response almost immediately. Sharon worked with us on our scheduling of classes and the overall coordination of the program throughout the timeframe to keep things moving smoothly. We could not have asked for them to do anything better. 5 stars just isn’t enough. I have a 10 year old mini Australian shepherd who through the course of her life has picked up horrible habits and aggression through lack of knowledge on my part.
